Blockboard is a composite wood panel made by sandwiching softwood strips (or "blocks") between two layers of hardwood veneer or plywood. These strips are placed edge-to-edge and bonded together with adhesive under high pressure.
Structure of Blockboard
1. Core - Softwood strips (usually pine, cedar, or fir) arranged edge-to-edge.
2. Outer Layers- Thin hardwood veneers or plywood sheets glued on both sides.
3. Adhesive- Typically urea-formaldehyde or phenol-formaldehyde resin for durability.

Advantages of Blockboard
Lightweight(compared to plywood or MDF)  
Good screw-holding capacity(better than MDF or particleboard)  Stable & Less Prone to Warping (due to solid core structure)  
Cost-effective (cheaper than high-quality plywood)
